The Story
The idea was born in May, 2016. We were sitting around the dinner table discussing Dylan’s upcoming eighth grade graduation. Then we talked about high school, which led to a discussion about Disneyland grad night and senior trips.
Dylan loves theme parks so much that we thought, “Hey, why don’t we take Dylan on a senior trip and visit a bunch of theme parks? What about a road trip where we visit ALL the Six Flags parks?” The idea of a Six Flags Road Trip was born.
Over the next three years, Six Flags bought or took over operation of five water parks and two theme parks. That expanded our trip from 11 parks to 13.
In late 2019, Six Flags attempted to buy Cedar Fair, which would have added 11 more domestic parks to the list…essentially DOUBLING our trip. But it didn’t happen, which was kind of a relief because I’m not sure we could have pulled that off!
Then 2020 happened. Just like that, the trip was postponed. Disappointing as it was, it seemed trivial compared to everything going on in the world. We held out hope that we would hit the road in 2021.
By Spring 2021, it still wasn’t clear what a road trip might look like. Reservation systems, limited capacity, and potential unexpected closures made planning a road trip very risky. We decided to postpone the trip one more year.
We are finally hitting the road in June, 2022! We cannot wait to take this long-awaited trip and finally be able to share it with you.
