Park #1: Six Flags Discovery Kingdom by Stephanie Stewart

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is our home park. We’ve been there dozens of times over the past ten years, but today felt different. That’s because over 30 of our friends and family members came out to the park to help us celebrate the long-overdue road trip kick-off! Some of them arrived late, but we got another group pic by the fountain later in the day.

Dylan was so elated, he could hardly contain himself.

We were super-ambitious and created a group itinerary.

It kinda worked, but unfortunately, Joker wasn’t open by 11:15. We decided to just go for it and hit Superman. It was also the only ride open at that time in DC Universe.

Joker was open after Superman and it was time for a group ride!

I can say with 100% certainty that roller coasters (or any ride) is more fun when you experience it with Dylan!

Next up (after lunch) was another group ride in on The Ark. Not the most exciting ride in the park, but high-capacity enough for everyone to ride together.

The dolphin show (Discover Our Ocean Friends) was a nice break from the heat and another way for the group to enjoy some more time together. It appears that they are in the process of renaming the Dolphin Harbor Theater to Toyota Stadium. Since there already IS a Toyota Stadium next door (albeit closed), it makes you wonder what Six Flags might be planning.

I haven’t seen this many people at the dolphin show in a very long time. Maybe everyone was trying to escape the heat and cool off.

Speaking of cooling off, you can get GIGANTIC snow cones just across from Johnny Rockets. They scoop the ice, you add your own syrup! BONUS: It’s included as a snack in the meal plan (if you still have one).

After the dolphin show, we headed to the fountain for another group pic. There was a Looney Tunes dance party. Dylan, never one to miss a chance to dance, got busy.

After the dance party, we miraculously managed to get a group photo with (almost) everyone!

After riding the Wave Swinger (video coming soon), we headed to Sidewinder Safari.

The ride itself might not have been worth a 45-minute wait, but the pics afterward certainly were!

As the day came to a close and the kids rode their final rides, it was time to say goodbye.

Reflecting back on the day, it hit me. This road trip is about so much more than visiting all the Six Flags parks. It’s about connecting with family and friends. It’s about exploring new places and experiencing new things. We are so happy you decided to come along on this journey with us. Let’s explore together.

That’s all for now, folks.
